Editorials Let me introduce myself, one of the founders of The Price of Liberty.org. I thought that my story might inspire others who are struggling with the questions of "left" vs. "right" and wondering what else there could be that makes more sense. So, just who is this guy with the strange name and questionable writing style? Just who is ZooT_aLLures? I wasn't
raised in a freedom minded environment, but rather in the ghettos of a
big city in the upper Midwest.
Millions of Americans have joined the NRA, send money for dues and are solicited many times each year for donations to assist with the legal rights of gun owners-- or so they say. Well, they are paying their lawyers all right, but not to defend the rights of those they claim to represent. On October 8th, in a case before the District of Columbia Federal Court, NRA attorney Stephen Halbrook made the following statements to the Court in response to the Judge claiming the right of government to place restrictions on the right to bear arms. “YOUR HONOR, WE ARE HERE WANTING TO REGISTER HANDGUNS. WE ARE NOT HERE WANTING UNRESTRICTED ACCESS. WE'RE NOT HERE ASKING TO CARRY THEM, OTHER THAN IN THE HOME. (Read the rest here)
Some folks responded to my last article, "For Her Safety" by asking me to write in more detail about the abominable tragedy told of in that short story. The topic is massive, and I can't do it all justice in the scope of an article like this, but I hope to be able to give you some things to think about, things to do and put in place, and at least a few links to more complete information. Some people may object to this article because it requires working within the "laws" and dealing with the bureaucracy, but but those things are impossible to ignore if you want to navigate the overwhelming forces set against you in the political reality of today. Dying with
dignity, in the setting of your choice, is possible. Laws regarding "patient
rights" and such things as durable power of attorney (DPOA), "do
not resuscitate" (DNR) options and hospice care can help a great
deal with that process. They can't help if you are not diligent to put
them in place.
Sexual
harassment occurs when an aggressor pushes unwanted sexual attentions
upon unwilling recipients. Any guesses as to what "political harassment"
refers to? An epidemic of political harassment rages through modern society,
escalating to outright political assault with increasing frequency: often
with tragic results both for unfortunate individuals concerned and society
at large. The full-fledged political assault against David Koresh and
the Branch Davidian community in Waco, Texas in 1993 demonstrates how
much grief and devastation political harassment can wreak domestically,
and how little protection US tax dollars afford us against even the most
flagrant and brazen forms.
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America (Declaration of Independence) states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." This "Declaration of Independence" was the 13 Colonies justification to the world as to why they were no longer under the lawful authority of England. That being the case, and the statement that "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, how then is that consent obtained from each individual in this country today?
